Walden School follows a no-cut policy in all sports. We believe that athletics should supplement and complement, not replace or compete with academics. Academics come first. Grade checks are conducted on a weekly basis. There are valuable lessons that sports and being part of a team can teach kids that transfer, directly and indirectly, to their academic performance. Walden High School fields competitive scholastic teams in cross country, volleyball, basketball, dance, and both indoor and outdoor track & field. Athletes in the Middle School and High School also have access, in season, to our Weight Room as part of their practices. While all students are welcome and encouraged to participate on our teams, at the high school level we compete to win. We expect student-athletes to be committed to Walden, first and foremost, above whatever club, church league, "Y", etc. that they may take part in. A successful sports program cannot be built on a part time basis. High School students at Walden can also participate in weight training and swimming clinic, as well as intramural sports including touch football, dodge ball, soccer, softball, and more. As we do in the classroom, we use athletics to develop a sense of continuity from Lower School through Upper School. Toward that end, we involve our High School athletes in helping to run our Lower School Clinics – and we expect them to provide positive role models. The benefits of creating a sense of family and the increase in school spirit that flows from this sense of "connectedness" gives Walden Pride real meaning. Learn more about Walden High School:
