Walden School is organized into three academic divisions: Lower School (K-4), Middle School (5-8), and High School (9-12). While all students share the same campus and some of the facilities, such as the gymnasium, academic classes for the Lower School and Middle School occupy separate wings within the original school building, and high school students attend class in our new High School wing.
Each division has its own Head and faculty, and the divisions coordinate curricula to provide seamless transitions not only from grade to grade, but from division to division as well. Walden includes 5th grade within the Middle School to provide a transitional year of adjustment to the increased responsibility and academic challenges that come with the advancement to Middle School. At Walden, we encourage and organize interaction between students from all divisions both informally and formally, through “buddy” programs and within sports clinics and other activities. Students from all three divisions benefit from that interaction, and the overall effect is to promote a sense of family and community. It is not unusual at Walden for a high school senior to say hello to third grade students by name and ask how they’re doing. Learn more about Walden's Schools: |
