Welcome to Lower School Spanish Señora Laspiur I hope everyone had a great verano, (summer) and is ready for a new year in Español! I am thrilled to be back for my second year at Walden, and looking forward to seeing you all again, as well as meeting our new students and families. Be sure to check this site in a few weeks for information on what we will be working on in the first trimester at each grade level. In the meantime, the links below may be helpful throughout the school year. A simple, easy to use online Spanish/English dictionary can be found at the following link; http://www.spanishdict.com/translate/plate General information about the language, with vocabulary lists and simple grammar lessons can be found at this link; http://www.spanishlanguageguide.com/ Scholastic Book Clubs has a Spanish language club called Club Leo. If you follow this link, then go to Book Clubs, you will find Club Leo. Many of these books are bilengual, and the reading level is clearly marked on each book. It is easy to sign up and order books in Spanish! http://www2.scholastic.com/browse/index.jsp I also recommend Youtube as a resource, particularly if you want a tutorial in which you hear native Spanish speakers. Simply go to Youtube and type in a topic, such as Spanish numbers. You can find tutorials, music, basic vocabulary lessons, video clips and more. Parents, please be sure you are pre-screening and monitoring what your children view on Youtube. As with anything else online, there are inappropriate clips and visuals!
