PHASE I - completed

Over the past few years, Walden has enjoyed a 30% enrollment growth that requires additional instructional space for students.  This capital campaign continues to fund the construction of a 16,248 square-foot, two-story addition that allows each division at Walden its own distinct identity.  A spacious entry lobby connects the existing school with the gym, new classroom wing and stairs to the second floor. Upper School students use the new wing while Middle School students utilize most of the former Upper School classrooms.  Lower school students have gained additional classrooms. Initially, the interior of the second-floor classrooms has not be completed, but the space will be utilized for storage and select school activities. The second-floor interior build-out will be completed as Walden continues to grow.

Amenities included:

Classroom additions:

• Six new 500 square-foot classrooms on the first floor adjacent to the gym

• Enclosed central lobby connecting the existing school to the gym and new classroom wing

• Second story addition provides room for additional classroom space

Gymnasium renovation:

• Connecting lobby between the gym, existing school and new classroom wing

• New restrooms

• New locker rooms located near the connecting lobby

• Concession stand located near the soccer field

• Entrance for use with both indoor and outdoor events

• Air conditioning for the gym

• The current gym floor was raised to the level with the playing floor

• Retractable bleachers with seating for 500 was added

• The gym interior received a new coat of paint with new logo

• Newl scoreboards were installed
